The following paper examines the Baumanian “forms of togethernes” in the space of the contemporary metropolis, both in the West (Europe, the USA), and the developing world (China). Zygmunt Bauman understands togetherness as a totality of interhuman actions, occurring in the city space. Paradoxically, the contemporary metropolis which often seems hostile towards traditional bourgeois urban life opens up new possibilities of mutual relations between contemporary citizens. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie stanu państwa opiekuńczego i przestrzeni publicznej w epoce płynnej nowoczesności, omawianej w dziełach Zygmunta Baumana. Tekst rozpoczyna analiza zwrotu neoliberalnego w kontekście upłynniania się nowoczesnego świata. Neoliberalne myślenie zdominowało bowiem społeczne, polityczne, ekonomiczne i kulturowe aspekty życia. Na tym tle przedstawiono zjawisko społeczeństwa sieciowego, związanego z technologiami informacyjnymi i komunikacyjnymi, takimi jak Internet i telefon komórkowy, a także omówiono globalny kryzys nierówności, niweczący wysiłki podejmowane na rzecz demokracji.

Deceased in January this year, the Polish-British sociologist Zygmunt Bauman has left an extremely rich scholarly legacy. In one of his last academic interviews, he refers to the key issues which had been the subject of his in-depth analysis for many years. Bauman starts with reflections on the gap between political authority and power. Pierwsza nowoczesna retrotopia? "Don Kichote" Miguela de Cervantesa w perspektywie późnego Zygmunta Baumana

The article considers Cervantes's classical work through the prism of retrotopia, as understood in late Bauman. Retrotopia is a double negation of utopia, an attempt to return to an imaginary past, which usually happens in the face of an uncertain future. The first part of the article indicates a clear analogy between the conceptualization of retrotopia and Don Quixote's key themes.
